Is the Dodge Challenger T/A a good first muscle car to buy?

Joylandi 21-May, 2021
The Challenger has been in Dodge's lineup for many year. What makes it a standout is the large variety of engines, trims and options that are available. The T/A taps in to the Challenger's racing past in the Trans Am series. On the outside you will find that classic muscle car color called Sublime, functional air grabber lights, 20in wheels and T/A satin black stripes. On the inside you get unique seats, aluminum pedals, and whit faced gauges. Under the hood is a 5.7L V8 that is pumping out 375HP \u0026 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. • I like the classic non widebody look.

  • One of my fav. Dodge

  • Perfect looking challenger

  • How come my challenger rt ta doesn’t have performance control is it like a different package or something?

    • Perhaps because your T/A is kist a T/A, not T/A plus?

  • Great point about the RT being a great starter muscle car, it will do zero to sixty around 5 sec maybe 4.8 depending on tires etc but you can lay all the power down and be in full control, exciting without scary. Lots of performance especially if your coming from everyday cars.

  • should i get a 392 or a hellcat raiti?

  • I always thought T/A stood for Time Attack...learn something new every day

  • Learned something new today, I thought the T/A was only for the 6.4

  • Love the color and badge .I went with the 2021 Lt1 Camaro.

  • I have a T/A 392 and I love it, never disappoints me

  • Love the TA package

  • This guy definitely read a book on how to talk and present things to a crown he uses his hand for everything it’s like he has and imaginary wand

  • Great review my friend 👍

    • I am so glad that I can bring it to you!

  • My daily is 2021 Challenger RT super track pack , I'm happy with it. Its very balanced in terms of drivability and fun and has the same bulge lol I find 5.7 Hemi produces USABLE power and I did not even think about TA or Scat. TA is essentially the same 5.7 motor but with higher price tag coz of the bells and whistles lol And I've driven a scat and found it fun but too much power and $$$ for my daily need.

  • What's Cursive!!! Writing. OMG. These kids have no idea what we went through Joe. I Remember the 3 line paper Remember those 🤣

  • wish you could get these in the uk

  • Joe if you gonna do the T / A brother, it gotta be the 6.4 with all the boxes checked off my man Adaptive Sus. & Front Strut tower brace fam 6 speed manual or nothing !!! C'mon homie !!!

  • Are Stock Tires Important tha comes with car from factory? Of course there's a zonk seein those 245 for rear tires but we can change em with 305 or 275 for rear right after buying this car

  • I will never get tried of this car

  • no

  • Yes!!! Another dodge video. Keep those mopar videos coming...

  • uzfire.info/camera/video/mKWshaqJkrZ_gJ0

  • USA....what a nice looking car......love the color.

  • Awesome muscle car exhaust note!

  • Stunning car oon the outside but the interiornis a letdown.

  • Seats are very nice 👌 👍

  • Rims look amazing 👏

  • Color is incredible 😍✨

  • Hey Joe 👋 👋

  • I thought T/A stood for TIME ATTACK

  • are you ever concerned about getting pulled over when test driving at higher speeds?

    • Just show the officer your UZfire channel on your phone, then put your hands behind your back for the handcuffs. 😆

  • Sounds great.

  • What was the naughty reference to T/A. I don't get it?

  • T/A niceeee 😆

  • I thought T/A was Track attack? I stand corrected.

  • You've pretty much done all off the Challengers except for the Super Stock. You'd be lucky to find someone crazy enough to trade in a Demon and review it just for kicks. With the exception of the Demon, once you review a Super Stock, you will have reviewed every Challenger last trim.

  • When we getting that 2022 Honda Civic review?

  • This has to be the cleanest sounding muscle car. The horsepower is at a manageable level and the exhaust.. 💯🔥 I just hate how little trunk space it has. Not a fan of the color but maybe in all white or black.. great review! 🔥

  • ah u are 1 of those v8 elitists

  • For me that’s good HP. My days of more more more are gone, 375 especially with a manual would be a lot of fun.

  • LOL thanks for calling me out my mind was so in the gutter with T/A 😂🤣

  • Will this car pull in the T/A?

  • Your right joe I think that might be might be my 1st car now that I watched your review on it.

  • One time I had a challenger RT come out of nowhere behind me when I was on a circle turn to merge into another freeway, I slapped my brz ts 2020 into second gear and huge that turn over double the speed limit of that turn and the challenger try to chase me and he almost hits the guard rail fish tailing while I was way up the freeway already 🤣

  • sick muscle car

  • Every able bodied American should own a muscle car at some point in their lives. Should be issued at the onset of his or her midlife crisis.

  • You’re the best reviewer Joe!

  • Great now I want a big Mac 🤣. Thanks again to the best in the biz

  • Joe, still waiting for you to get that challenger!

  • wonderful car and wonderful video as always :). i was wondering too, if this is a good car for people who care about milage alot?

  • This 5.7 Hemi with all that noise can only hang with camrys and accords lol they rly should discontinue this model it’s so embarrassing. And yeah I used to own one so I’m speaking from experience.

    • I owned one too and I couldn’t agree more😂 all that noise and can only hang with so much LOL ahh so true

  • I wanna see Joe eat a burger on that front splitter. 🍔

  • This is literally the video I asked for this great man always makes it happen!

  • I go for the Mustang GT 10R80 better great show thank you

  • You showed up all the cars, give me one of them 😚

  • Looks solid.

  • So much nicer than a Camaro or Mustang hands down it is superior over those ugly want to be Muscle cars.

    • 😂😂 I had a R/T then went to the 6.4 and it just to heavy so I went the Camaro SS route since it was my dream car from the beginning and it’s definitely not a wanna be muscle car. From the refresh 2016+ it was more of a sportier car. The challenger is just a big block but it still looks good 🤷‍♂️

  • I think the 5.7 is a great. You get the great v8 sound and it’s still pretty fast at a great price.

  • Nice

  • You couldn’t pay me to be seen in a car that color! Hahaha

  • The look of the challenger was never my favorite but it’s growing on me. When are we going to see your ZL1 out on the road? You can race your lovely wife Lori. You in the 350 and Lori in the ZL1. I’m betting on Lori. 😀 Keep up the great work you two. Joe will you do a video about the semiconductor shortage and how it’s affecting the auto industry?

  • I can always admire and appreciate a mopar. However, that bad boy is a bit ugly. Nice showcase on your end though rati

    • @NAPPA thats wassup i actually had this car and i agree. I seriously do not like this car now because of various things i noticed upon 6 months of ownership (it was a 2018 challenger ta plus)

    • @light GRID Just not my style. I feel like the idea of the exterior was whipped up and designed in about 30 minutes. It looks like an up badged SXT challenger. Idk

    • Just curious what do you find ugly about the car?

  • my first muscle car was a 19 rt and its the perfect amount of power to start out with lol

  • Joe, I was wondering what it meant, and you said "First of all get your mind out of the gutta" You put the thought in my head first😂 😂😂...I know Lori was crying laughing on the other end 😭😭😭

  • I’m about to surrender my RT because it ended up being a lemon. The dealership replaced the entire exhaust system 4 times! They replaced the back up camera 3 times with multiple issues with the infotainment system. I’ve had it only for 3 years. Thankfully Chrysler is going to issue a full refund of all payments made plus deposit.

  • Do you think the 5.7 is better with the manual or automatic?

    • If your plan is to win someone and go faster, ZF auto. If you planto enjoy feeling and nostalgia, 6spd. You know it. I'm the latter

  • Nice

  • Who doesn't love a BIG "Buldge"

  • just got off work and this video about to be good thanks for something to watch

  • Finally!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!

  • Joe, how big of a difference, torque & horsepower wise, is the 5.7 compared to the 6.4?

    • 110 hp and 75 lb ft torque more I know because I had both (check out my channel) but man it sure does feel like more torque because when you step on the gas in a scat pack it has a way stronger Push in terms of putting you in your seat💪

  • Too heavy

  • I know the type of crowd that likes these type of cars, I'm not one of them but I enjoy any review Mr. Raiti does.

  • I love watching your vids, will keep watching in aw until I get some kind of performance car years from now.

  • Looks super slow lol

    • No take laughs needed

  • Doesnt T/A really stands for track attack?

  • Nope get that Camaro instead! ;)

  • The T/A trim is the best looking of all of the trims in my opinion 👍🏽 If I had the option, I'd go with the T/A 392 in the widebody option which is new for the 2021 year. It'd be awesome if it found its way on one of your future reviews 💯💯💯

    • Oh really ? I didn’t know they offered it for the scat now you learn something new everyday lol

  • those 5.7 are slow tho.It way too heavy for the power it has but overall still a great daily driver.

  • Think the T/A is actually the best looking Challenger and think has the nicest interior of any of the Challengers. Also the most true to Challenger 1970 had a 340 ci the new one is 345 ci also can get the hood pins from the factory. The Hellcat's may be brutes but the T/A truly is the most real Challenger when related to the original. As for exhaust the original 1970 had side mega phone exhaust

    • Plus cuda hood but anyway T/A is the best

  • This car looks like from furious 7

  • Scat pack is the best bet.

  • Cooler color and on throttle with the challenger muscle beast cat but it’s a 5.7 L hemi

    • Nothing is wrong with 5.7

  • T and A and some coke. And you're telling is get out of the gutter..lol

  • Dodge does so well with all the different colors. There’s no bad color from them!

  • breath ment holder for the women in your car after giving you the speciality vacuumcottonmouthgawkgawknorrflex6feetdeepthroat3000

  • I actually had a bad experience in this car, i bought it and sold it within 6 months. It was a 2018 challenger ta plus

    • @Jordan Cameron Yeah i actually had a bad experience with the 5.7, imho it was way to slow for a v8. Only pushing 370 @ 4100 pounds, terrible engine shake at idle which is supposed to be “normal” for hemi’s. Im more of a canyon racer dont know what i was thinking when i picked up a 2018 ta plus it cant compete with any cars in its class. The gas is abysmal, all show no go, brakes needed to be replaced often because of the need for stopping power constantly. After owning the 2018 ta challenger plus I got turned off to mopar, interior plastic 80% u connect problems sometimes, box design not asthetically pleasing.. just a brick design, terrible body roll, slow acceleration cannot hang with any performance car out on the road given it’s pushing 370 @4100 pounds. Such a stature requires a lot of work for the brake pads and rotors to do making me change the brakes more. Thank god there is a Covid vehicle shortage I sold my ta and got a pretty good offer considering it already had 70k miles on it! Definitely not for me im more of a gt sport racer type of guy road course formula 1 tight corner taking precision engineered vehicles is more my forte. The challenger is for a different type of person

    • @Jordan Cameron wasn’t enough for me (check out my channel) definitely upgraded to the scat pack shortly after

    • How come? Was it the 5.7? Not enough power? Or just not for you?

  • I'm fine with the hp and torque numbers, but there should be some serious suspension and brake goodies on an R/T T/A, especially with the factory weight these cars are 'blessed' with. Needs a manual... Lori, thanks for all you do!

  • They need a T/A Hellcat....or better 👀

  • That engine cover is hideous

  • The TA Challenger reminds me of a Cuda almost.

  • I like how Joe just nonchalantly makes jokes and then moves on with the review like nothing happened

  • Dodge under FCA was absolute garbage can only imagine how much lower the quality under stallantis 💩💩💩

  • I love it my boy Joe keep up the work and I love the video lot real true and funny 😄😆🤣💯

  • I have a 2020 Durango RT and it is a blast to drive. That 5.7 is no slouch and the sound is music to the ears.. Great review and sweet ride and love that color.

  • I love Big Macs

  • Going to change it up today...First, thanks and a tip of the 🎩 to Lori! Awesome video work 👍🏼 Now, starter muscle car??? Joe you are spot on!!! I had my 5.7 RT for three years before “graduating” to my Scat Pack 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼. If available, I’ll then upgrade to the Hellcat 💪🏼😈💪🏼😈. (Or maybe a GT350😱). Thanks for all that you do for us gear heads!!!

  • Joe “Magic Man” Raiti 😂

  • Omg

  • when I saw this I clicked it right away "Mopar or no car"
